Uttar Pradesh government headed by BJP chief minister Yogi Adityanath is making lots of headlines. They took some drastic steps ever since BJP has come into power. Some of their decisions have created huge controversies. One such decision is the name change of Allahabad.
Just recently, Yogi Government renamed Allahabad to Prayagraj, which stirred a huge debate in the country. This was the trending topics in the media for days. Opposition leaders slammed the government asking them about the development of the state. On the other hand, people started trolling the government on Twitter. There were several memes and jokes floating on the social media regarding the same.
Now, the observers believe that the renaming of Allahabad is just the beginning and the UP government may rename few more cities in coming in near future. The government is under huge pressure of renaming some other top cities.
The List of the cities that may get renamed:
Aligarh: Harigarh
Azamgarh: Aryamgarh
Muzaffarnagar: Laxminagar
Faizabad: Saket
The situation in the state has become such that Aligarh BJP leaders are already riding vehicles with Harigarh written on it. Talking about the same, RSS sanghchalak Parabhi Narain and Awadh Prant said to a leading daily that they are not against anyone, they are just trying to restore the ancient names that were strategically changed by Mughal and British emperors.
