Rohit Shetty’s ‘Comedy Of Errors’ faces copyright issues; Will be named ‘Cirkus’ not ‘Angoor’
Rohit Shetty’s much-awaited comedy movie featuring Ranveer Singh will reportedly not be named ‘Angoor’ but ‘Cirkus’ as it faces copyright issues and gets a shout out from the poet-filmmaker, Gulzar Saab, who feels remakes are the road to ruination of art.
As per recent buzz, Gulzar Saab, who had directed ‘Angoor’ of 1982 wasn’t too happy about his much-acclaimed movie going into a remake. To note, the blockbuster hit of 90’s was a remake of history’s best writer Shakespeare’s ‘A Comedy Of Errors’ which showed veteran actor Sanjeev Kumar, Moushumi Chatterjee, Deven Verma, Deepti Naval, Aruna Irani , among other star cast.
However as per the latest reports, the makers of new ‘Angoor’, Reliance Entertainment and T-Series have now decided to rename their fun induced project ‘Cirkus’ and have declared that their film would be an adaptation of Shakespeare’s ‘A Comedy Of Errors’.
To note, Gulzar’s ‘Angoor’ was also not an original masterpieces neither his Parichay, Koshish, and Mausam were. Angoor in reality was the remake of Gulzar’s mentor Bimal Roy’s ‘Do Dooni Chaar, which was also adapted from Shakespeare’s ‘A Comedy Of Errors’.
In Rohit Shetty’s ‘Cirkus’ now, not ‘Angoor’, will feature Ranveer Singh and Varun Sharma in two double roles.
