Deepika Padukone And Irrfan Khan In Vishal Bhardwaj’s Next

Many Bollywood male celebrities have played the role of gangster or don in reel life. But very few heroines have portrayed gangster’s role in movies. Earlier, actresses like Seema Biswas, Nandita Das, Neha Dhupia and others have played the role of mafia or gangster and now there is one more star who will be in the list. She is none other than Deepika Padukone.

Yes, Deepika is roped in for Vishal Bhardwaj’s next movie which is based on true story of mafia queen named Rahima Khan who was popularly known as Sapna Didi in the 80s. Her co-star is Irrfan Khan, who will play the role of a local gangster and Deepika’s love interest. Irrfan will help Rahima Khan ( Deepika Padukone) aka Sapna Didi, to kill the scandalous Dawoood Ibrahim.

The movie is an adaptation of the book, Mafia Queens of Mumbai by  journalist turned author S Hussain Zaidi. Vishal Bhardwaj has written the script of the movie and it is expected to release by the end of this year.

This is Deepu’s first collaboration with Vishal Bhardwaj while Irrfan has done movies like 7 Khoon Maaf, Maqbool and Haider with him.

The film will be co-produced by Prerna Arora and Arjun N Kapoor. Prerna has produced Rustom and Toilet-Ek Prem Katha and she confirmed the news, saying, “Yes it is true that we are producing the film along with Vishalji, who is one of the finest directors in the country. We are looking forward to this collaboration.”

Vishal is launching Honey Trehan as a director and he said, “Honey has been a part of my life since before I made my first film. Launching him as a director after Abhishek Chaubey gives me deep joy. He will make a fine director. Deepika has been asking me to write a script for her for a long time. She has heard this script and loved it. We are in an advance stage of discussion with her.”

Deepika and Irrfan wooed the audiences with their performances in Piku and now we are excited to see them together as a couple in Bhardwaj’s next.
