Aamir Khan needs no introduction when it comes to B Town. He is actor, filmmaker and activist based in Mumbai. He was born on 14th March 1965 in Mumbai in a filmmaker family of Tahir and Zeenat Hussain. He did his schooling at a number of schools starting from JB Petit School to St. Anne’s High School Bandra and later did his 10th standard from Bombay Scottish School Mahim. He complete his junior college from Narsee Monjee College. He describes his childhood to be tough since most of the films his father had produced were flop giving barely any profit from them. His schooling was often at risk of being expelled from the school due to the non-payment of fees.

As a kid, Aamir Khan appeared on the silver screen with small roles with the film Yaado Ki Baarat in 1973 and later found in the film Madhosh playing the younger version of Mahendra Sandhu. At the age of 17, he started experimenting with small films and thus was seen in the 40 minute silent movie called Paranoia which was directed by Aditya Bhattarcya (his school friend) and it was funded by the veteran actor Shriram Lagoo. He soon joined a theatre group called Avantar wherein he carried out backstage activities for a year or so. He then made a debut with a small role in the Gujarati play called Kesar Bina under the banner of Prithvi Theatre. Then did a couple of English and Hindi plays and thus discontinued his school by choosing the work of assistant director to his uncle Nasir Hussain for two films Manzil Manzil and Zabardast.

He acted in a number of documentaries directed by a number of students of FTII Pune and soon in 1988 he was offered his first movie Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak in 1988 directed his uncle Nasir Hussain, which was a huge commercial success in Indian Cinema. Soon he got a crime thriller Raakh which however, was an average grocer but was critically acclaimed by a majority of reviewers. His next film DIl was a major success. Some of his early movies include Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, Hum Hai Rahi Pyar Ke, Rangeela, Andaz Apna Apna and Raja Hindustani to name a few.

His most acclaimed movies include Ishq, Ghulam, Earth, Lagaan, DIl Chahta Hai, and Fanaa to name a few. His debut in direction started with the movie Taare Zameen Par which even fetched him a Filmfare award in the best director in debut category which he has produced under his own banner. Some of highest grossing movies include Ghajni, 3 Idiots, Dhoom 3, PK and the recently released movie Dangal which has already crossed 450 crores within ten days worldwide. Besides, he is also into film production, which started with the movie – Lagaan directed by Ashutosh Gowrikar that went on to contest at the Oscars wining applauds and losing against the film No Man’s Land. His other movies include Taare Zameen Par, Dhobi Ghat, Delhi Belly, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (giving break to Imran Khan his nephew), and the TV show Satyamav Jayate

In the media, Aamir Khan is a known man thank to the number of activism he has in the society dealing with issues like women empowerment and other social causes to global warming etc, he has remained the part of many social initiatives. He was even included in the 100 most influential people in the world by Time Magazine apart from being the man to have his wax imitation at Madame Tussauds in London. Talking about his endorsements, he has endorsed a number of brands like Coca Cola, Tata Sky, Titan Watches, Godrej, Samsung, Snapdeal and Monaco Biscuit to name a few.

He has been engrossed in a couple of controversies including the much hyped one called the intolerance remark at the Indian Express award session, which brought wrath from many fanatic groups. Talking about awards and recognition, he has received 7 FIlmfare awards with 26 nominations for Best Actor category along with four National Film Awards. Mr. Perfectionist was even honored by the Government of India with the Padma Shri in the year 2003 and the Padma Bhushan in the year 2010.  He also holds the doctorate degree conferred by Maulana Azad National University for his contribution in Indian Cinema. Talking about his personal life, he got married twice (divorced his first wife Reena Dutta) and currently lives with his second wife Kiran Rao and has a son Azad Rao Khan through surrogacy.
