5 Big Films That Came Under The Radar Of Censor Board

If you think Udta Punjab is the only movie came under the Censor scanner in a big way then you are totally wrong. Over the years, the Censor Board has been acted a supreme authority to take over the complete charge of the movie and cut down several important scenes from the movie. Filmmakers have seriously called Censor Board, a authority who curtails cinematic freedom. They are angry with the Censor Board and their unusual norms of cutting scenes. Haider: After 41 cuts, the Censor Board of Film Certification has given Haider a U/A certificate. Haider was the last film to have been cleared by suspended CBFC chief Rakesh Kumar. The word "F **ked" had to be muted in the film. For some reason, the shot of a bare back during a song sequence was also considered offensive. When the director Vishal Bharadwaj has been approached about the matter, he said, the Censor Board demanded only 7 cuts and to tighten the script he himself gave it more 35 cuts. Madras Café: The movie which was released back in the year 2013, has met with a serious response not only by the Censor Board but also with the aggravated political members of Tamil Nadu. The Hindi Version of the film was cleared by the Censor Board but the Tamil Version of the film has to face lot of difficulties to get release. The problem with the movie was its realistic story on Srilankan Conflict which was not well received by the Censor and the political parties. Though the Tamil version of the movie was finally released but still it didn’t lured the audience in a big way. Oh My God! Will you ever believe that a film like ‘Oh My God’ can easily get release in a country like India? Certainly not. But it has actually managed to get release in India but it was certainly banned in many countries due to its religious ingredients. The film was banned in the UAE. Student Of The Year: Will you ever believe that a Karan Johar movie will fall in to a Censor Board trap, but it actually did. The movie was actually came into controversy when there was a song picturised on Alia Bhatt with the words ‘Radha On The Dance Floor’ as Radha belonged at the Holy place. Anyways, the film was finally passed by the Censor Board but many religious group has protested against it. India's Daughter India's Daughter was not a Bollywood movie but it was a well-framed realistic documentary. The film is based on the 2012 infamous Delhi Gang Rape and that’s why is has been prevented for its premiere and its release. The film was about to broadcast in India on 4 March 2015 but the Indian government blocked the broadcast in India by obtaining a court order on 4 March 2015. The film was also uploaded to YouTube but the Indian government requested that YouTube block the video in India. So there was a lot of Censorship issue has already been there in India and the cinematic freedom has most of the time being curtailed. So there needs to be a reformation in the Censor Board so that the film gets passed without cuts and get the certificate which it deserved.
