Bollywood’s most beautiful era, the 70’s where most of the romantic, action, comedy movies were made. This was the era when there were many blockbuster hits but how many of you know how much did these movies earn at the box office? Today we have compiled some of the movies of the 70s that were the highest-grosser in that era.

1. Johny Mera Naam (1970)

Directed by Vijay Anand the movie had legendary actor Dev Anand and actress Hema Malini. It made a collection of Rs 8 crores at the box office.

2. Haathi Mere Saathi (1971)

Haathi Mere Saathi became one of the highest-grossing movies of 1971. Starring Rajesh Khanna and Tanuja, the movie raked in 16.25 crores.

3. Seeta Aur Geeta (1972)

This comedy drama featuring Dharmendra, Sanjeev Kumar and Hema Malini in double roles grossed Rs 19.53 crores.

4. Bobby (1973)

Bobby was the biggest hit of 1973. It was under the banner of Raj Kapoor, and Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia were in lead roles. Earning Rs 27.24 crores was really a big deal at that time.

5. Roti Kapda Aur Makaan (1974)

Directed by actor Manoj Kumar the movie earned Rs 10.5 crores. It had Amitabh Bachchan, Shashi Kapoor and Zeenat Aman.

6. Sholay (1975)

Released in 1975, Ramesh Sippy’s Sholay was a blockbuster hit in the 70s. It minted Rs 30 crores at the box office.

7. Barood (1976)

This revenge drama earned Rs 19.32 at the box office.

8. Amar Akbar Anthony (1977)

This movie of friendship, love, drama earned Rs 15.5 crore. The movie had Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, Vinod Khanna, Parveen Babi, Neetu Singh, Shabana Azmi in lead roles.

9. Muqaddar Ka Sikander (1978)

Produced and directed by Prakash Mehra, it starred Amitabh Bachchan, Vinod Khanna, Rekha and Rakhi. It raked in Rs 26.89 crores.

10. Suhaag (1979)

Directed by Manmohan Desai, this flick became the highest earning film of 1979. It made a collection of Rs 10 crore at the box office.
