Shahid Rafi, the son of legendary singer Mohammed Rafi, expresses his anger over the dialogue and lashes out at Karan Johar for insulting his father. Shahid Rafi in an interview said that “the dialogue was not critical to take the storyline forward but was still included in the film.” He also questioned them saying “While writing this dialogue, Didn’t they realize who they were talking about? Mohammed Rafi is a versatile legendary singer and I am not saying this just because he is my father. Even after 36 years of his passing away, my father’s fan following is far more than many other singers of our industry.”
Shahid Rafi also added that “After watching this, I doubt if he (Karan Johar) has got any sense about what he is doing. It’s an insult to my father. I am ashamed and didn’t expect this from Karan Johar. Shayad shahurat sar jyada chadh gaya hai. Jab shahurat zyada chadh jaata hai, log mooh pe tareef karte hai aur peeth peeche thooh thooh karte hai.”
