We’re ‘Sorry’ For Badshah’s ‘Sorry’ Cover!

If you are a millennial living in a metro, you have definitely danced to Justin Bieber’s auto tuned disaster ‘Sorry’ where the popstar pleads his girlfriend to take him back.

The dance-hall pop song also has a equally famous video to go along with it where the all-female crew of ReQuest Dance Crew and The Royal Family Dance Crews (from New Zealand) break out into a hip hop dance.

Though the song has been described by Brad Nelson of Pitchfork and Andy Kellman of AllMusic as a great track from Bieber, we don’t really agree. ‘Sorry’ and its video is beyond comprehension if you are a day older than 25 and sober.

And because the original song wasn’t good enough, Punjabi rap star Badshah (Honey Singh’s rival, for the uninitiated) released a Hindi cover of the song, complete with lyrics like “Message padhe hain tune lekin koi jawaab nai, Insta pe photo jo daali hai lagti ho khush badi”.

It also includes the chorus from the beloved Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan song ‘Sanu Ek Pal Chain Na Aave’. We wonder if the revered singer, who tragically passed away in 1997, would have approved of the use of his famous song.

This brings us to a crucial question. Why was this song made?

Badshaah’s cover has left us speechless, but maybe the song will make sense when it is played on a high volume in a dark nightclub where the air reeks of alcohol?

All we have to say is we hope Badshah will seek forgiveness from Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan by singing “Is it too late now to say sorry” onto the heavens.

Listen to the song at your own peril here:
