Web series based on the life of Vikas Dubey in the making! know more
Critically acclaimed actor-director Manish Vatssalya will soon be directing a web series that will be inspired by the life of Kanpur gangster Vikas Dubey, who recently died in a police encounter. It is alleged that the crime thriller web series will be called ‘Hanak’.
In a recent interview Vatssalya was quoted saying, “As a filmmaker, I feel bound to show the paradigm of our social compass. Vikas Dubey epitomises the vice of human existence. What drew me towards his character is the flaws that define its entity and how they can be picturised to inculcate the values of virtues in our society.”
While explaining the process of directing a project based on true events, the renowned director said, “The concept and the structure of the story is something I was approached with but its nuances have to be conceived and redefined. We will be taking guidelines from the facts, which are in public domain or non-classified police records. Once the details fall into their logical place, the actors who fit the bill will be approached. However, I assure you that you will see the masters of their craft featuring in this series.”
As people have begun adapting to the ‘new normal’, owing to the Coronavirus pandemic, the web series will go into production from October, as per the filmmaker.
‘Hanak’ will be produced by Awadhesh Tiwari and Aditya Kashyap, while Subodh Pandey and Mridul Kapil will be writing the story.
Manish Vatssalya debuted into the industry as a director with the 2012 film, ‘Jeena Hai Toh Thok Daal’, which won the award for the best feature film in the 2013 Mexico International Film Festival. His recent project titled ‘Scotland’ has made its way to the contender list for best feature film category for 2020 Oscars.
