Veteran actor Paresh Rawal is the new Chief of National School of Drama

Veteran actor Paresh Rawal, who is a renowned personality of Bollywood and has won millions of hearts with his remarkable performances in blockbuster hits like ‘Hera Pheri’, ‘Oh My God’, ‘Aankhen’, among several others. Decorated by the Government of India for his contribution to the entertainment industry with country’s fourth highest civilian award, Padma Shri, the actor has also attached another feather to his hat. The actor has now achieved a new milestone by taking over as the chief of National School of Drama.

By taking up this new responsibility Paresh Rawal has succeeded acting NSD chairman Arjun Deo Charan and is expected to serve as the Chief of NSD for the next four years.

Announcing the big news on his Twitter account, Union tourism and culture minister Prahlad Singh Patel made the revelation that Paresh Rawal has been appointed as the Chairman of National School of Drama by the president Ram Nath Kovind. The union minister also congratulated the 65-year-old actor stating that the students will benefit from the veteran actor’s talent.

Whereas, responding to his tweet Paresh Rawal wrote, “It will be challenging but fun. I will do my best because this is a field I know very well.”

Born in 1955, Paresh Rawal has served entertainment industry with his impeccable comic sense, great acting skills which has won him many accolades including, prestigious National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor (1994) and Padma Shri (2014).
