Tony Khan explains why he revoked Sammy Guevara’s suspension
Sammy Guevara made a fierce comeback on this week’s episode of Tony Khan’s AEW Dynamite after serving 30-days of suspension following inappropriate comments made towards Sasha Banks, four years ago.
Talking about the match, Chris Jericho had teamed up with Jake Hager to face Luchasaurus and Jungle Boy. Where, the Inner Circle came out victorious and at one point it seemed like Serpentico would join the faction. But before AEW Dynamite ended, Serpentico unmasked and revealed his identity. Meanwhile, Sami Guevara returned and fooled us all into believing that Serpentico would join The Inner Circle.
Earlier today, Tony Khan on Sports Illustrate explained why he brought back Sammy Guevara to AEW, lifting his non-payable suspension.
Confirming his previous decision of donating Guevara’s salary to the Women’s Center of Jacksonville and that Sammy Guevara’s suspension had entailed no pay, Tony Khan also reiterated his decision to lift Guevara’s suspension during the interview.
It is to be mentioned that Guevara was suspended on June 22 and in television time, served a 30-day suspension. The July 22 episode of AEW Dynamite, however, was taped on July 16.
Along with serving suspension, Sami Guevara also apologized to the Pro-Wrestling community and to Sasha Banks, multiple times for the inappropriate comments against Banks that he had made in 2016. Guevara also had a private phone conversation with Banks. As per Tony Khan, Guevara took this opportunity to make things positive.
