Salman Khan starrer Race 3 is the biggest film releasing this year. The movie has created strong buzz among the moviegoers. Fans of the superstar have been waiting for this movie for a very long time. However, there is a very sad news for Salman’s fan in Pakistan. The movie won’t release in Pakistan during this Eid. The information and Broadcast Ministry of Pakistan have asked the distributors to not release any Indian film two days before and two weeks after Eid. This new rule has been brought in order to promote Pakistani films during the same period.
The letter reads, “All the importers/ distributors of the foreign films have been directed to restrain from the screening of Indian films in cinema houses all over the country during the above mentioned time period,”
According to the officials of the ministry, this step has been taken on the requests of Pakistani production houses and film distributors. This means that Indian films won’t release during the festivity season, which will mean big business for the new Pakistani films.
An official of Pakistan Film Exhibitors confirmed receiving the letter saying, “The notification says that the temporary ban is being imposed in order to promote local movies on the festivals, a time when usual than the larger audience is attracted towards cinemas,”
This order will be valid for other big holidays like Eid-ul-Adha that comes around August and September. For past two years, Pakistani producers and distributors have been complaining about tough competition faced by Indian films. They have been saying that their new films don’t do business due to tough completion from Bollywood films.
