After Sridevi, Key Actor From ‘Dekh Bhai Dekh’ Passed Away

Veteran actress Shammi fondly called as ‘Shammi aunty’ in the film industry has passed away at 89. The news of her death came in early hours of Tuesday. Many B-Town stars took to their social media to express grief over her death.

Born as Nargis Rabadi, she has worked in more than 100 films in her long film career. Some of her notable works were Khuda Gawah, Arth, Hum, The Burning Train to name a few. She was a very popular face in Indian Television industry as well. She has worked in popular TV series like Dekh Bhai Dekh, Shriman Shrimati, Zaban Sambhal Ke and Filmi Chakkar among others.

She made her Bollywood debut at the age of 18 in ‘Ustad Pedro’. She got major breakthrough after featuring in Dilip Kumar’s ‘Sangdil’.

Her co-star in ‘Khuda Gawah’, Amitabh Bachchan took to Twitter to pay his tributes for the actress. Breaking the news, Big B wrote, “Shammi Aunty .. prolific actress, years of contribution to the Industry, dear family friend .. passes away ..!! A long suffered illness, age .. Sad .. slowly slowly they all go away ..”

Priya Dutt also shared a picture of Shammi Aunty with her late mother Nargis as a tribute and wrote, “Shammi, aunty to me and a great actor of yesteryears passed away today. She was my mother’s dear friend and someone we all loved very much. May her soul rest in peace and her laughter and contagious smile rock the heavens. Be In peace with your friends”

According to the reports, her last rites will be performed in Mumbai today.
