Special court to pronounce order on Rhea and Showik’s bail pleas tomorrow
As a special court was hearing bail pleas of Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty on Wednesday after the two siblings were arrested by Narcotics Control Bureau yesterday in the drug abuse link to late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case, as per recent reports, the court has secured its order on their bail plea for tomorrow. The bail orders of other accused, drug peddlers; Basit Parihar and Zaid Vilatra will also be pronounced on September 11.
Rhea Chakraborty, who’s bail plea was previously rejected by the Mumbai Court in a video conferencing had moved to sessions court today for bail. The actress during the hearing had reportedly broke down in tears after court had rejected her bail plea and claimed that what’s happening with her is wrong as 80% B’town celebs do drugs. In her statement with NCB the actress had also alleged that she apparently consumed drugs at the behest of late actor. Moreover, her brother Showik, who is currently in 14-days judicial custody of the NCB, is also reported to have told the agency that while he was the one who procured drugs for the late actor, his sister Rhea used to pay for them.
Meanwhile, the hearing on Rhea’s bail plea at the Sessions Court will be held tomorrow. As per a media report, Rhea’s petition stated, “Narcotics Control Bureau is spinning a false narrative” against her and that she was ‘coerced’ into making confessions by the agency which she didn’t want to during her probing with the NCB team. The 28-year-old actress also claimed to be “innocent”. Her lawyer, Satish Maneshinde, in her plea to the court also stated, “She has not committed any crime whatsoever and has been falsely implicated in the case.”
Furthermore, lawyer of alleged drug peddler Zaid Vilatra, who is also under 14-days NCB custody in the drug abuse case reported to have defended his client stating that a very small quantity of weed was recovered from Zaid and that his statement to the NCB officials was under pressure.
If the reports are to be believed, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is soon likely to register another case on the basis of the findings of the NCB, which has recently arrested Rhea, Showik, Samuel Miranda and SSR’s house help Dipesh Sawant on the charges of procuring drugs. To note, the ED is probing the money laundering angle in Sushant’s alleged suicide case.
