Sonakshi Sinha to play the role of Dawood Ibrahim’s sister in ‘Haseena-The Queen of Mumbai’
Director Apoorva Lakhia along with producer Mubina Rattonsey are all set to make a film on Haseena Parkar, Dawood Ibrahim’s sister. The Mumbai underworld don has 12 siblings in total and Haseena was the seventh of them. She is said to be the closest to Dawood and also assisted him in a lot of underworld affairs. She died in 2014 out of a cardiac arrest.
The film is named as ‘Haseena-The Queen of Mumbai’ and ‘Dabangg’ actress Sonakshi Sinha had been selected to play the titular role.
Confirming about this new project, Sonakshi told the media,” , “It’s a great script, a powerful role, a very intriguing story and an opportunity to play a character who is the polar opposite of me. I have always wanted to be a part of a biopic and this is the perfect one. It’s going to be extremely challenging for me and I am looking forward to it.”
Sonakshi Sinha previously played the role of Dawood Ibrahim’s love interest in ‘Once Upon a time in Mumbai, Dobaara’.Talking about Haseena Parkar, director Apoorva Lakhia said,” “Haseena aapa was a very complex personality. I have just picked up the threads of her journey and knitted together the tapestry of her life. I was approached by Sameer Antulay with the idea and Mubina, Sonakshi and I are all set to bring her story alive.”
The film is said to go on floor by the beginning of 2016 and will portray 40 years of Haseena’s life journey and the thoughts behind being the sister of the biggest underworld don.
