Unlike those movies which portray the male protagonist to be the star and actresses to be mere eye candies, Akira is a film which provides the actress to showcase her skills and carry the flick on her shoulders and join the list of few women-led movies like ‘Queen’, ‘Mardaani’ and ‘Mary Kom’.
Directed by A.R. Murugadoss, Sonakshi Sinha starrer Akira shows her in a new avatar which is never seen before. She plays an action-packed role which is a rare phenomenon; we all know what sorts of roles are usually offered to actresses in the Indian film industry.
Akira is remake of a hit Tamil movie called ‘Mouna Guru’, it’s still a big question if the movie will make its mark at the box office or not. The movie released on Friday 2 September, thought it had an average start, it picked up pace by the evening and earned 5.15 crores so far.
As per the predictions made by some critics the flick will perform even better in the coming week. Apart from Sonakshi, the flick also stars Konkana Sen Sharma and even ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ director Anurag Kashyap plays a major role in the movie as the antagonist.
The film is likely to grab more attention of the audience as there is no other bollywood film with a great cast that released this week. People have appreciated Sonakshi’s acting skills in the movie despite being bounded by various limitations. It surely will give the audiences a different kick and experience as we only saw her playing feminine or bubbly roles in all the movies she worked in so far. ‘Dabangg’ being the most popular and recognized work till date, in which she acted opposite Salman Khan.
The movie, however, saw a slight growth in the business towards the end of the evening. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, ” #Akira gathered momentum after an ordinary start… Biz picked up from evening onwards… Fri ₹ 5.15 cr. India biz.” The movie is expected to earn more than Rs. 5 crores on Saturday. The movie is expected to pick up in coming week.
