Despite so much growth in the mentality and standard of living, Skin tone is still a major parameter for a person’s beauty. You can still find several people extremely found of fair complexion and resentful towards the darker skin tone. Products that are marketed to change the skin tone or so to say getting a fairer skin are still hugely popular among masses, which shows the obsession of fair skin.
Biggest victims of the dark skin tone have been the women, but a recent report brings out an even darker tragedy. In a shocking turn of event, a man from Bareilly Uttar Pradesh became a victim of his dark skin.
A 22-year-old woman hated her 20-year-old husband dark complexion so much that she set him on fire. This horrific incident happened on April 15 at 5:45 am when the victim was sleeping. His wife poured petrol on his body setting him on fire. The victim succumbed to his injury, whereas the woman also burnt her legs.
Talking about his sister-in-law, brother of the victim said, “She would always comment on my brother’s dark complexion but we never thought she would take this step.”
Sehdev Singh, the SHO of Kurh Fatehpur stated that a case has been registered under IPC section 302, the punishment for murder.
This is a very unfortunate incident also proving how much skin tone matters to some of the people. It also validates that neither men nor women are above the dark complexion dilemma. It is high time we start appreciating inner beauty and stop judging people by their skin tone.
