SRK was in London to receive an award at the Asian Awards
Shah Rukh Khan flew to London yesterday to be present at the Asian Awards and also personally accept his award for ‘Outstanding Contribution to Cinema’.
Apart from the award, the actor also got a few selfies with Zayn Malik, the ex One Direction heartthrob. Zayn received an award for Outstanding Contribution to Music at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel. After recently quitting the popular band, this was the 22-year-old’s first public appearance. Zayn reportedly quit One Direction to lead a ‘normal life’.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and former One Direction star Zayn Malik were honoured at the fifth Asian Awards held in London last night. The award ceremony was hosted by TV presenter Gok Wan.
SRK, who received the Outstanding Contribution to Cinema award said, “I am extremely humbled and honoured to receive this award. I say this very often that my stardom belongs to most South East Asians who reside abroad who have made the Indian cinema and me known around the world. I congratulate all the winners at the Asian Awards as well. There is so much talent around Asia and so many achievers, whether is was Dr Amar Bose, the Hinduja Brothers or Zayn Malik. I am glad to have been a part of such a wonderful celebration of hard work by people in difference field but similar passion.”
Zayn Malik, who made his first public appearance after his controversial exit from One Direction, was presented with the award for Outstanding Contribution to Music at the ceremony held at at London’s posh Grosvenor hotel. Naughty Boy, the producer rumoured to be working with Zayn was also at the awards.
While SRK looked dashing in a black tux, Zayn, who looked extremely handsome in a navy suit and black tie, sported a new buzzcut.
They found time for a quick selfie at the dinner held after the ceremony. SRK Tweeted

Fashion designer John Rocha, TOWIE stars Jasmine Walia and Lydia Bright, Casey Batchelor, Big Brother star Casey Batchelor, cricketer Kumar Sangakkara, former soap actress Preeya Kalidas, comedian Meera Syal and Burberry model Jamie Campbell Bower were among the A-list stars at the event.
The Asian Awards celebrate artistes, entrepreuners and other achievers of Asian origin. Previous awardees have included Sachin Tendulkar, Anupam Kher, Yash Chopra, Irrfan Khan, Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, Asha Bhosle, AR Rahman and Ratan Tata.
