Ahmedabad-based gangster’s son claims the makers of ‘Raees’ has damaged his father’s reputation

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan upcoming film ‘Raees’ seems to be in a trouble now. It is stated that the movie, which inspired by real life gangster Abdul Latif life story, has not showcased the Protagonist in the right way. A local court in Gujarat has issued a notice to Shahrukh Khan’s production house claiming damages for defaming late Abdul Latif. The suit is filed by the Mushtaq Ahmad son of the gangster Abdul Latif.

Ahmedabad civil court judge R T Vatsani has issued a notice to Shah Rukh Khan’s production company Red Chillies and co-producers Excel Entertainment and Rahul Dholakia. The final reply date of the notice is May 11.

As per the buzz, we heard that the makers of ‘Raees’ is already juggling for a release date. They first thought to release the film along with Salman Khan starrer ‘Sultan’. But if reports are to be believed, they want to shift the release date. In between all these issues, now the makers have another problem of the Court Notice.

The petitioner claimed that when the script was in the preparation stage, they were not asked family’s point of views about the story. Mushtaq Ahmed also sought for the injunction of the movie. With the Suit, he even demands 101 crores for the damages.

Now, this will be definitely a troublesome situation for the makers to deal with it. The film is based on a real-life gangster Abdul Latif, who was a bootlegger and operated in 1980’s Gujarat. It is also said that he had a connection with the Dawood Ibrahim gang. He was jailed in 1995 and killed by police encounter in 1997 while trying to escape from the jail in Ahmedabad.

Directed by Rahul Dholakia, the film also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Mahira Khan in the titular roles. The film is slated for an Eid release.
