In a recent interview with media portal, Veere Di Wedding actress Swara Bhaskar gave her unfiltered opinion on trolls, marriage, and of course, the masturbation scene from Veere Di Wedding.
On asking Swara about her masturbation scene in the film, actress revealed that she demanded for the closed set for that scene and explained how they added fun touch to the scene so that it wont look vulgar. “I am very fond of Shashanka Ghosh. So yes, I was nervous. I asked for a closed set. The only thing I told Shashanka was, ‘Let’s make the scene funny, not vulgar’. So yeah, that ‘Wait, 1 minute’ (laughs).Remember that?“, said Swara.
While people gave mixed reactions to Swara’s masturbation sequence in Veere Di Wedding, but her mother spoke in support of Swara and slammed the trolls. Taking a dig at the trolls, Swara said-
“Listen, trolls are scum. it’s just a cowardice act to attack people whom you take selfies with and then go home to write bad things about them, without even showing your face”.
In Veere Di Wedding we saw that Swara’s character doing late night parties, drugs, smoke and broke her marriage after 6 months of wedding. Asking Swara about her opinion on marriage actress expressed her belief in institution of marriage. Actress further added-
“Are you surprised that I don’t smoke, I don’t do drugs? I know people think I must be wild but I am very gharelu”
Actor Sumeet Vyas, who plays Kareena Kapoor Khan’s fiance in Veere Di Wedding too came in support of Swara bhaskar and explained why ‘that scene’ became so controversial. Actor was quoted saying-
“She was not happy in her marriage and had no chemistry with her husband. If it was a man featured in that scene, it would have been perfectly normal and a healthy thing to do. But as it is a woman, which perhaps is a first in Indian cinema, it became a problem. What we saw was what a normal human being would do but because it was a woman, it looked like a bold move”.
