Sedition Case Filed Against Navjot Singh Sidhu For Hugging Pakistani Army Chief General Bajwa
Former Indian cricketer and current Minister of Local Government, Tourism, Cultural Affairs, and Museums of the State of Punjab, Navjot Singh Sidhu has landed in huge controversy after he attended the swearing-in ceremony of Imran Khan in Pakistan recently. It has created a huge uproar on social media.
Sidhu is getting lots of criticism from people in India for hugging Pakistani Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the swearing-in ceremony of Imran Khan. People are calling Sidhu’s gesture to Pakistani Army Chief as an insult to the Indian Army who is putting their lives at risk on the borders. Even Chief Minister of Punjab, Amrinder Singh has also criticized Sidhu’s action in Pakistan.
However, Navjot Singh Sidhu has defended his action saying that they are from the same culture. He also added that he’ll open the Kartarpur border on 550th Guru Nanak Dev’s Prakash Parv. He said that he had to return the warm welcome he received.
This whole controversy has become worse so much so that a sedition case has been filed against Sidhu. A lawyer named Sudhur Ojha has filed the case against Navjot Singh Sidhu in Muzzafarpur, Bihar. The lawyer said that Sidhu has hurt the sentiments of the people in India. The court will hear the case next week.
