Bollywood film ‘Sarbjit‘ is one of the best biopic films of the year. Since its release on the silver screen, the film managed to win the critics heart but in terms of a collection, it fails to impress the audience till now. But, there is another theory which proves that the movie will go for a long run at the Box-Office like Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Queen‘ and Vidya Balan’s ‘Kahaani‘.
‘Sarbjit’ has a slow start at the Box-Office with earning 3.10 crores on the very first day. On Saturday, the film collected 4.45 crores at the Cinema Halls and on Sunday it did well to rake up 5.60 crores. On Monday also it performed will with earning 2.38 crores, making it overall 15.53 crores. With this collection, it gives us a hope for a good earning week.
At first, the film was getting a tough fight with Hollywood Film ‘X-Men: Apocalypse‘ but soon the mouth publicity has turned the table in favor of ‘Sarbjit’. With the good mouth publicity of the film, the audience is now approaching the theaters and appraising the movie.
The USP of the movie is its realistic touch which performed with the finesse by the actors Randeep Hooda, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Richa Chadda. As, its based on the real life incident, the audience are finding emotional connect with the movie.
There are various reasons why this film will make it good in a long run, one of the things is its content which is very relevant and the other thing is its women-centric approach. In the past two years, women-centric movies rarely met with a fall, where it be ‘Neel Battey Sannata, Neerja or ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’, so the film has a lot of hope with its women-centric viewpoints. As the whole film has been mostly focused on showing the 23-year long struggle of ‘Dalbir Kaur’ (Aishwarya) to free his brother ‘Sarbjit’ from the shackles of Pakistan Jail. The film is very intense and moving at the same time.
If you take an example of the sleeper hit movie ‘Queen’, then you will realize that the mouth publicity has helped the Vikas Behl’s women-centric movie a lot. If you look at the collection of ‘Queen’, you will realize that it was also started slowly at the Box-Office. On Friday it made 2 crores, On Saturday it raked 3.40 crore, Sunday it earned 4.5 crores and money it collected 2.20 crore, totaling it 12.10 crore. And then the movie turned out to a sleeper hit.
So,there are good chances that ‘Sarbjit’ will perform in the same way like ‘Queen’ or ‘Kahaani’. The other good reason for the film is, the next week there is no big release, which also help the movie collection stable for few weeks.
On May 27, five films are releasing together ‘Cabaret‘, ‘Phobia’, ‘Veerappan’, ‘Fredrick‘ and ‘Waiting’ but they are not such a big film like ‘Sarbjit’. So there is a certain surety that ‘Sarbjit’ will clear the long run at the Box-Office with flying colors.
