Bollywood upcoming film ‘Sarbjit’ trailer has already received a good response from fans and this piece of news will really make you feel happy. Yes, Uttar Pradesh government has declared ‘Sarbjit’ to be tax-free.
It’s a rejoicing news for the makers who have worked really hard to sketch the film on celluloid. As we all after levying Entertainment tax on movies, the ticket cost soars high. Many people couldn’t able to see the movie because of heavy entertainment tax. But things will not be same with Sarbjit, as its completely tax-free now in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
Actually, it’s a rare occasion when a film is declared tax-free before its release. Mostly if the film is good and it has a good social message, then states do make them tax-free. But, hardly any film gets tax-free before its release.
Recently, we have also seen that Swara Bhaskar starrer film ‘Nil Battey Sannata’ was also made tax-free by UP Government. Interestingly, the UP Government also given 2 crore subsidy to that movie as it has been shot across Uttar Pradesh.
It looks like ‘Sarbjit’ film will surely be tax-free in most of the states. Even the makers much be wanting that the true story will reach at the remotest area of the country.
Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Akhilesh Yadav has announced that the decision will be implemented with immediate effect, since the day of its release on May 20. ‘Sarbjit’ is a story of Indian farmer who mistakenly crossed the Indian Borders and jailed in Pakistan for nearly 23 years. Sarbjit’s sister Dalbir Kaur has struggled nearly 23 years to bring him but back but couldn’t able to save his life.
Directed by ‘Mary Kom’ fame Omung Kumar, the film stars Randeep Hooda, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Richa Chadda in pivotal roles.
