Ranbir Kapoor starrer ‘Sanju’ has managed to win over the viewers and the critics. Produced by Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra, ‘Sanju’ is the first biopic and fifth movie by Rajkumar Hirani. Raju Hirani has crafted it so well that we can actually witness heart and humour in the movie. It is 2018’s highest opener leaving behind Salman Khan’s ‘Race 3’, ‘Padmavaat’ and ‘Baaghi 2’. Everyone is raving Ranbir Kapoor for his outstanding performance. Sanju has even beaten Rajkumar Hirani’s blockbuster PK’s first-day box office collection.

1. ‘Sanju’ made a collection of Rs 34.75 crore on its opening day and it became the biggest opener of the year.
2. Makers love to realise their movies during festivals to have a good collection. ‘Sanju’ is the mega movie and Bollywood’s biggest opener to have been released on non-festival.
3. We have seen many biopics in the past like ‘Dangal’ and ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’. ‘Sanju’ is the first biopic to collect 34.75 leaving behind Aamir’s ‘Dangal’ which collected Rs 29.78 crore.
4. ‘Sanju’ is Ranbir Kapoor’s biggest opener till now. It beats the first-day earnings of ‘Besharam’ (2013) that earned Rs 21.56 crore.
5. ‘Sanju’ is also biggest opener of Rajkumar Hirani as it has beaten “PK” that earned less than Rs 100 crore.
6. It is also biggest opener in the weekend. It has broken the records of ‘Race 3’ (Rs 106.47 crore) and ‘Padmavat’ (Rs 114 crore) by collecting Rs 120.06 crore.
7. ‘Sanju’ is not just the biggest first-weekend opener of 2018 but the only movie to earn Rs 120.06 crore in the first weekend.
8. It has also broken the record of ‘Baahubali 2’ which earned Rs 46.71 crore on the third day.
Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, ‘Sanju’ has an ensemble cast that includes Paresh Rawal who is playing Sunil Dutt, Manisha Koirala as Nargis, Sonam Kapoor as one of his girlfriends, Dia Mirza plays his wife Maanyata, Anushka Sharma plays a biographer and Vicky Kaushal as Sanjay Dutt’s best friend.
