While Somen came from a humble background, it is being said that he lived a dual life, that of an entrepreneur and one for his family. Somen has also been under the legal radar and has been accused of a couple of murders and attempted murders.

The Sultan star confirmed the news saying, “A Bengali man, who moved from India to America in the late 60s, struggled and created one of America’s most iconic brands. We are going to tell the story of Somen Banerjee, a man driven by fierce ambition, on celluloid,” reported a leading daily.
Amar Butala, CEO of Salman Khan Productions revealed that they have plans to create not just a feature film but also a mini-series on Somen Banerjee considering the intriguing nature of his life. He added that his life story had all elements and shades of a gangster film including greed, power and violence.
