Rajkumar Hirani’s latest film Sanju has been running successfully in theaters. Ranbir Kapoor starrer has already broken several records at the box office and also getting lots of praise from everyone including critics. The movie is all set to enter Rs. 300 Crore in coming days making it one of the highest grossing Bollywood films of all time. Despite so much success at the box office, the movie has also received lots of criticism from several people. They have been slamming Rajkumar Hirani for making a film to whitewash the image of his favorite actor and friend Sanjay Dutt.
Before the release of Sanju, Hirani had said that he didn’t try to portray Sanjay Dutt as a clean man, but the film does look like an attempt towards the same. Many people think that it is an attempt to clean the image of Bollywood’s most loved bad boy Sanju Baba.
Now, even RSS has joined the same category. The official newspaper of RSS slams Rajkumar Hirani questioning his intent of making this film. It also says that Hirani tried to portray Sanjay Dutt as a youth icon.
According to the reports of a leading news channel News18, the reports of the RSS newspaper called Sanjay Dutt a criminal. It also alleges that the film is trying to whitewash his image.
The article titled as “Kirdaar Daagdaar (tainted character)” criticized Rajkumar Hirani massively for glorifying Sanjay Dutt and making him a youth icon despite his criminal background. Raising questions on the intent of Hirani, RSS asked,
“Why did you feel the need to make a film based on someone like Sanjay Dutt? as it to whitewash his character or to milk the box office?”
