As you all, know the playoffs match of IPL is underway. Yesterday we saw the eliminator match between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens. The match was a must-win game for both of the teams, as losing team would directly get kicked out of the tournament.
Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and decided to field first. His decision was great, as RR took some early wickets putting KKR on backfoot. However, Chris Lynn, Dinesh Karthik and Shubhman Gill played sensibly in the middle and Andre Russel finished the game in style with a total score of 169. The total was a par score on that pitch if we consider the bowling attack of KKR.
However, RR took a magnificent start with 87/1 in 10 overs. It looks as if they would comfortably chase down the target. Even Rahane started off pretty well but lost the plot after 10 overs. He just scored 7 runs in 11 balls in the second half at a time when he was supposed to score quickly. Finally, he got out after scoring 46 runs in 41 balls. His slow innings force other batsmen to score quickly resulting in fall of the wickets. By the end of the match, RR lost to KKR by 25 runs.
This has not gone down well with Twitterati, as they are furious on Rahane for playing a test innings in a T20 match. People are trolling him left, right and centre.
