Rishabh Pant and Ambati Rayudu Kept On Stand-By For ICC World Cup 2019 Squad
On Monday, BCCI has announced the 15-member squad that will take the flight to England for the prestigious and biggest cricketing event ICC ODI World Cup 2019. However, the final Indian team for the world cup has received lots of flaks from fans and top former cricketers for not including wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant and Ambati Rayudu. Ever since the team has been announced, people are talking about Rayadu and Pant.
Now, BCCI has announced that flamboyant Delhi wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant and Ambati Rayadu have been kept on standbys for India’s squad for ICC World Cup 2019. After taking away their hopes, BCCI has shown a glimpse of hopes for them. After all, everyone dreams of representing their country in the World Cup.
Pacer Navdeep Saini who is playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore is third back up. Pant, Rayudu, and Saini will only play if any players get injured during the tournament. A senior BCCI official told PTI,
“Just like the ICC Champions Trophy, we have three standbys. Rishabh Pant and Ambati Rayudu are the first and second standbys while Saini is the bowler in the list. So if anyone gets injured, as per requirement, one of the three will be going.”
Indian cricketers like Gautam Gambhir, Sunil Gavaskar, Mohammad Azharuddin, Sourav Ganguly and millions of fans have already shown their disappointment over the ICC World Cup Squad. Even Rayudu took a sly dig at BCCI and Chief Selector MSK Prasad, who justified the selection of Vijay Shankar saying he is a three-dimensional player. Rayudu tweeted:
What do you think?
