There are many celebs that make their debut in the industry as a child artist. We’ve witnessed many breath-taking performances as such, be it Sanju and Karuna from Shaka Laka Boom Boom or Frootie from Son Pari. As they grow up, they are rarely seen on screen leaving their fans wondering about their whereabouts. However, we have Shweta Basu Prasad who recently opened up about her journey in the industry.
Shweta Basu Prasad in known for her marvellous performances in the movies like Makdee and Iqbal, who even went on to receive a National Award for her role in Makdee at the age of twelve.
Shweta revealed that she was approached for many roles over the years but she was advised to look after her studies rather than focusing on her career in the industry. Moreover, her parents didn’t want her to get into the industry at such a tender age.
The actress stunned all of us by saying, “In fact, I was 12-years-old when I won a National Award for Makdee, but there was no celebration at home, though I got bouquets and chocolates from everyone including my school Principal. But my Father told me ki Government toh aise bachchon ko award deti hi hai and that it was not a big deal.”
Even after going through a lot of pressure, the extremely talented actress seems keen to make a comeback to the industry. She said, “The industry has been quite supportive of me and I don’t see any reason why they shouldn’t. I don’t see any reason as to why someone should not cast me.”
