Ranveer Singh’s ‘83’ & Akshay’s ‘Sooryavanshi’ to hit big screens!
Given to lockdown many movies are now being released on OTT platforms. As there is no information on when cinema halls will reopen, Disney Plus Hotstar, on 29 June, announced the digital release of seven Bollywood films; ‘Laxxmi Bomb’, ‘Sadak 2’, ‘Dil Bechara’, ‘Bhuj: The Pride of India’, ‘The Big Bull’, ‘Khuda Haafiz’ and ‘Lootcase’, whereas cinema chains like PVR, INOX, Wave Cinemas and Carnival Cinemas confirmed the theatrical release of Rohit Shetty directorial ‘Sooryavanshi’ and Kabir Khan’s sports drama ‘83’.
The cinema chains, meanwhile, have confirmed the most awaited films of the year will be festival releases and that ‘Sooryavanshi’ will hit theaters on Diwali and ‘83’ will be a Christmas release.
Directed by Kabir Khan, ‘83’ stars Ranveer Singh as cricketer Kapil Dev and chronicles India’s first World Cup win under the his captaincy in 1983. The film also stars Deepika Padukone, Hardy Sandhu, Tahir Bhasin, Jiva, Saqib Saleem and Pankaj Tripathi. Earlier, the movie was scheduled to release on 10 April, but the production team had on March 20 announced that the movie dates are being postponed due to Covid-19.
Whereas, Rohit Shetty’s, ‘Sooryavanshi’ was scheduled to release on March 27, which also got postponed due to the spread of Corona Virus. The big budget movie stars Akshay Kumar in the lead role along with Katrina Kaif, Gulshan Grover, Abhimanyu Singh, Jackie Shroff and Sikander Kher.
