Ranveer Singh talks about how Takht is similar to Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham

Ranveer Singh, who is currently busy enjoying the success of his movie Simmba, that released on 28th December, 2018 has yet another good news for all his fans! It has recently been known that Ranveer Singh will be playing the role of Dara Shikoh in Karan Johar’s Takht whereas Vicky Kaushal will be playing the role of Aurangzeb in the royal family drama! To this announcement, here’s what Ranveer Singh has to say about similarities between Takht and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham!

The cast of the movie Takht has been in headlines for all the right reasons! The cast of the movie includes Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Anil Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Janhvi Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar. While earlier the reports had speculated that Kareena Kapoor Khan would play Dara Shikoh and Aurangzeb’s sister Jahanara, Anil Kapoor their father Shah Jahan, Alia Bhatt as Shikoh’s wife, Bhumi Pednekar as Aurangzeb’s wife and Janhvi Kapoor as a slave girl, no confirmation was given on the same. Recently, Ranveer Singh and Vicky Kaushal appeared on film critic Rajeev Masand’s Actors Round Table conference. The two actors in the conference revealed that Ranveer Singh will be essaying the role of Dara Shikoh, while Vicky Kaushal will play Aurangzeb.

Takht is a period drama but it seems like at its core has a similarity to Karan Johar’s hit film Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham. Talking about the similarities between the two films Ranveer in an interview with Deccan Chronicle stated, ” People don’t understand that K3G is a family film and it’s about the internal dynamics of family and Takht is the same at its core. What period it’s set in? And what costumes they are wearing? The world is just a decoration. At the core, it’s a family drama about love, greed, ambition, betrayal, brotherhood, and dynamics between father, son, brothers, and sisters all this compiles the essence of the story.”
