Raees VS Kaabil : Day 2 Box Office Collection!
Raees vs Kaabil Box Office Collection :
After all the hype that the clash between Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Raees and Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil have generated, the public opinion has started coming in via the box office. Raees, also starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Mahira Khan, has taken a solid lead at the box office. While its Wednesday numbers stood at an impressive Rs 20.42 crore, Thursday being the Republic Day holiday gave a further boost to its winning run at the ticket windows.
After earning Rs 10.43 crore on the day of its release, Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam-starrer film Kaabil is all set to increase its earnings on day two of its release that also happens to be a public holiday on account of Republic Day. The revenge drama released on Wednesday when it went head-to-head with Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees. Despite lagging behind SRK’s film in terms of numbers (Raees earned over Rs 20 crore on day one), Kaabil did a better business than Hrithik’s last release, Mohenjo Daro.
While the Wednesday numbers for Raees stood at an impressive Rs 20.42 crore, Thursday being the Republic Day holiday gave a further boost to its winning run at the ticket windows and the film earned a record-breaking Rs 26.3 crore. The film released on about 2700 screens and has earned a total of Rs 46.72 crore in two days at the box office. This makes Raees the highest earner ever on a Republic Day. Till now, the record belonged to Salman Khan’s Jai Ho with Rs 25 crore earned on R-Day in 2014.
Despite the fact that the film has lesser numbers of screen and occupancy, Kaabil is expected to give good competition to Raees. Day two collections of kaabil are 18.67 crores with only 40 percent of the screens .
Raees had its share of controversies before it hit the screen, including MNS opposition to Pakistani actor Mahira Khan’s presence in the film. Post-release too, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and the Gujarat unit of Shiv Sena sought a ban on Shah Rukh Khan-starer Raees, claiming the movie “glorifies a real-life criminal”. Rashtra Sena, a little known outfit, has also put up banners in several parts of Surat against the Bollywood superstar and the movie. The film is allegedly based on real-life criminal Abdul Latif but the makers have denied this claim.
Meanwhile, the film is getting audience’s love despite mixed reviews. With its first weekend stretching over fives days, the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer is expected to enter Rs 100-crore club easily.
