Raees VS Kaabil: Day 11 Box Office Collection!

Although Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees became the first film of 2017 to make it to the Rs 100 crore club, Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam-starrer Kaabil is not lagging far behind. The revenge drama joined the 100 crore bandwagon in its second weekend.

Even though Kaabil’s opening day collections were significantly lower than Raees, it has since picked up and is giving SRK’s gangster drama stiff competition at the box office. Kaabil also became the first Bollywood film to release in Pakistam since their ban on Indian films, and reports suggest that the film is already running to packed theatres there. Raees, however, has a lead in the overseas collection.

Shah Rukh Khan, who plays bootlegger-turned-MLA Raees Alam in the film, said that it was unfair to compare his film with the last releases of the other Khans, Salman and Aamir. He added that Dangal and Sultan were possibly bigger hits than Raees could be, and said that he was happy that his film was being well-received.

Meanwhile, Hrithik Roshan is also happy with the performance of his film, which was his fourth highest opener at the box office. Given that his last film Mohenjo Daro did not fare so well in the face of a clash (it had clashed with Akshay Kumar’s Rustom), the actor is happy with Kaabil.

While Shah Rukh Khan’s portrayal of Gujarati bootlegger Raees Alam (said to be inspired by real-life don Abdul Lateef) has received a thumbs up from the audience, Hrithik’s performance as a blind mimicry artiste has been hailed by critics as his career best.
