Pakistani model and social media sensation, Qandeel Baloch, on Saturday was allegedly killed by her brother at her hometown Multan, where she had gone to celebrate Eid.
The controversial model’s brother had been threatening her over her Facebook posts and videos, police reportedly said.
Her father informed the police about the killing. The body has been sent to a hospital for postmortem.
Media reports say she was under severe pressure from her brothers to quit modelling and acting.
She was staying in her native town since a day before Eidul Fitr, reports said.
Three weeks ago, Ms Baloch wrote to Pakistan’s Interior Minister and the Senior Superintendent of Police in Islamabad asking them to provide security to her.
“I know I will not be provided security and I am not feeling secured here so have decided to move abroad with my parents after Eidul Fitr,†Qandeel had told a leading daily.
In a recent interview, the internet celebrity confirmed the rumours surrounding her marriage and also stated that she and had a child with former-husband Aashiq Hussain.
This news came a few days after the release of her music video ‘Ban’, which she described as Pakistan’s raciest video yet. (Although that video failed to get attention.)
Here’s her message on her popular Facebook account on July 4 where she wrote about “changing the typical orthodox mindset of people who don’t wanna come out of their shells of false beliefs and old practices.â€
Ms Baloch was also touted to be one of the contestants in the 10th season of actor Salman Khan-hosted reality show Bigg Boss in India.
