‘Pink’ Was To End Differently…
The film ‘Pink’ has been a huge box office success. From excellent acting to a great story line and hard hitting dialogues, the film got everything right. Well, almost everything. There were claims that the women winning the case was not realistic since most of the evidence in the case was against them.
In a recent interview, Taapsee Pannu, who plays one of the leading ladies in the film, revealed that in fact, the writers had originally planned to let the boys win the case with a view to keeping the story realistic.
Taapsee revealed that the end was later changed so that the film serves as a strong motivator for the audience to take a stand in such scenarios.
“THE PLOT DEMANDED THAT THE GIRLS LOSE THE CASE SINCE ALL THE FACTS AND EVIDENCE WERE AGAINST THEM. BUT WE CHANGED IT TO A VICTORIOUS ENDING FOR THE GIRLS SO PEOPLE CAN TAKE SOMETHING VALUABLE HOME AFTER THE MOVIE. IT WAS AN ATTEMPT TO MOTIVATE PEOPLE TO ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO TAKE ACTION AND STAND STRONG AGAINST SUCH SITUATIONS.”
The success of Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu starrer, ‘Pink’, has started a much-needed dialogue in our society. The courtroom drama has brought to the forefront various issues that women deal with on an everyday basis in our society.
‘Pink’ shows everything from judgmental neighbours, boys who think you’re easy just because you agree to have a drink with them, or the people who think you’re a ‘bad girl’ because you smoke. The list is just endless!
It was definitely a good move to have a satisfying end to the film. Had the writers stuck to reality, it may have not been as inspirational a film.
