Petrol In India Is Way More Costlier Than Its Neighboring Countries, Twitter Is Furious!

Petrol and diesel are getting costlier with every passing day in India. If it continues increasing at this rate, we might have to start looking for an alternative, as it would be very hard for common people to buy them in coming years. Currently, Petrol in Delhi costs Rs. 76.61, which is highest as of now.

The reason for the constant hike in petrol prices is said to be the rise in the cost of crude oil and decrease in the value of Indian Rupee against the dollar. However, we often forget that the price of diesel and petrol largely depends on the taxes imposed in different states. To give you perspective, if the tax were removed from petrol, the price of petrol in Delhi would come down to half.

According to Indian Oil Corporation, the price of petrol was Rs. 84.40 in Mumbai, Rs. 76.57 Delhi and Rs. 79.47 per litre in Chennai on Monday.

However, if you compare the petrol price in India to our neighbouring country, you’ll be mighty shocked. The price of petrol in our neighbouring country is way less than that of here.

This has raised a huge debate, as people are asking why India is selling petrol at much higher price than the countries that are much poorer than us. One of the main reason behind this huge price is the tax imposed in different states of the country.

According to the leading economists, not a single government wants to reduce the taxes, as petrol and diesel generates lots of revenue.

Here Is The Price Of Petrol And Diesel In Different Countries On Monday:

India (Mumbai): Rs 84.40

China: Rs 81

India (Delhi): Rs 76.61

Bangladesh: Rs 71.55

Nepal: Rs 67.46

Sri Lanka: Rs 64

Bhutan: Rs 57.24

Pakistan: Rs 51.79

Afghanistan: Rs 47

Myanmar: Rs 44

This has created a huge debate on social media. Even Twitter expresses their views in the same. We bring to you some of the selected reactions right here.
