Pakistani Umpire Stayed In The Rain Until The DRS Result Was Out, Twitter Can’t Stop Praising Him
Umpiring is the most integral part of cricket. The umpire’s decision is above all. There have been times when decisions of umpire have created quite a stir for all the wrong reasons. At such times, everyone starts to slam umpires without thinking how difficult their job is. However, there is rarely any time when umpires get an appreciation for their hard work. A similar incident happened recently.
In the fifth ODI between Sri Lanka and England, the umpire did something that has won everyone’s heart. It so happened that the game was disrupted due to rain and Sri Lanka was on verge of winning the game due to their powerful performance.
Sri Lanka put a target of 367 for England to chase. However, England collapsed and lost the game miserably. England was on 132 with the loss of 8 wickets. In 27th over, Liam Plunkett failed to understand a delivery of Akila Dhananjaya leading to an lbw decision.
Pakistani umpire Aleem Dar gave the batsman out but Plunkett took the review. At the same time, rain started pouring down heavily. All the players started moving towards the dressing room, but Aleem Dar kept his position firm. Despite the rain, he waited till the review result came out. Once review showed out, he raised his finger declaring Liam Plunkett out. Only then, he left the stadium.
