Ram Rahim Sentenced To 10 Years Of Imprisonment; Refused To Go With The Cops!!

The chief of Dera Sacha Sauda Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insaan has been convicted of rape and found guilty on 25th August, 2017. Moment after the verdict was announced by the Punjab and Haryana high court, riots broke out leave several injured and many dead. Ram Rahim has been sentenced a jail term the duration of which was to be announced today, i.e. 28th August.

Ram Rahim has been sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment for the rape case and slapped a fine of Rs 65,000 on the chief. Authorities are on high alert in Punjab and Haryana, as his followers went on the rampage that left 38 dead after his conviction of Friday. Ahead of the Monday’s court proceedings, the two states ordered schools and colleges shut, suspended mobile services, stepped up security and threw a five-tier cordon around a Rohtak jail, where a judge handed out punishment to the Dera chief for raping two disciples 15 years ago.

Ram Rahim apparently broke down in the court moments after the verdict was announced and wept as he dropped down to the floor. Ram Rahim was reluctant to go with the cops and refused to accompany the cops who then had to forcefully escort him out for medical checkups and other formalities that are required prior to imprisonment. Ram Rahim also complained of chest pain after breaking down in tears. His medical tests are underway and if declared fit, he’d be sent to the cell in prison that is allocated to him.

A ‘youth brigade’ was formed days ahead of the verdict in the rape case to “trigger violence” in Punjab if the judgement goes against Ram Rahim, a senior Punjab Police official said on Monday. As per an NDTV report, two motorcycles were set on fire outside the Sirsa moments before the verdict.

The chapter doesn’t end here. Buzz is that Ram Rahim’s alleged daughter, Honeypreet Insaan, will likely be the new face of Dera Sacha Sauda and a successor to Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insaan, urf, Harpal Singh!
