Padmaavat’ continues to reign on Day 12 of release
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s medieval epic ‘Padmaavat’ has another successful day at the box office. Ever since the film was released worldwide on January 25th, 2018 it went through innumerable amounts of trouble and protests before it could see the light of day. In spite of all the teething troubles that director Sanjay Leela Bhansali along with the cast and crew went through, ‘Padmaavat’ has managed to stand strong and rule the box office.
As per box office estimates, the film which had already crossed its Rs.200 crore mark has now raked in a collection of Rs.212.50 crore on Day 12 of its release. The film has been made on a whopping budget of Rs.200 crore including promotions and marketing. Going by the box office numbers, it is safe to say that ‘Padmaavat’ has been doing fantastic business at the box office.
The historic visual spectacle which is based on the 16th-century poet Malik Muhammad Jayasi’s Sufi poem ‘Padmavat’ written in 1540 also stars Shahid Kapoor, Aditi Rao Hydari, Jim Sarbh, Raza Murad and Anupriya Goenka in prominent roles. The epic historical drama has already turned out to be one of the biggest openers of director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and actors Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh.
Makers of ‘Padmaavat’ have a reason to rejoice as far as business is concerned as there is no major Bollywood film release in the current week allowing the film to do well on weekdays. However, the upcoming weekend will see some competition at the box office with the release of ‘Padman’ and ‘Aiyaary’.
