Rhea Chakraborty’s bail application rejected; Sent to 14-days judicial custody

Actress Rhea Chakraborty has been sent to 14-days judicial custody by the magistrate as she was produced before him via video conferencing. Her bail application, however, was rejected by CMM’s court, saying that bail cannot be granted in cognisable offences. Actress will have to stay in jail till September 22.

Meanwhile, Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer Satish Manshinde has been asked to approach the sessions court for her bail plea.

The prime accused in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case, Rhea Chakraborty was earlier arrested by the Narcotics Bureau of Investigation after being grilled by the officials for the past three days over a newly surfaced drug angle in the late actor’s case.

Actress was later taken for a medical examination where she also underwent COVID-19 test.

Rhea’s name in the drug angle came after the Enforcement Directorate recovered a deleted drug chat from her mobile phone which was later shared with CBI and soon NCB launched its probe into the illegal substance matter.

On August 26 the NCB had registered a case against Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik and others under Sections 20, 22, 27, and 29 of the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act. The NCB had also slapped criminal charges against Rhea in drug conspiracy angle related to Sushant’s alleged suicide case.

Later, the NCB had also arrested Rhea’s brother Showik and Samuel after carrying out a raid at their residence on Friday under Sections 8C, 28, and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and on the following day SSR’s house help Dipesh was also taken into NCB custody.

The two were sent in NCB remand for four days by a Mumbai Court after which Samuel and Dipesh reportedly revealed that Rhea used to purchase illegal drugs for the late actor’s home. While, Samuel allegedly confessed that he arranged weed for Rajput from September 2019 to March 2020 and also that he used to procure weed from Showik’s friend at Rs 2,500 per packet rate.

Now, as per the latest update, the ‘Jalebi’ actress may have apparently confessed before the NCB that she was procuring drugs for Sushant and also apparently consumed them at the behest of late actor.
