Model cum actress Sonika Chauhan passed away on Saturday morning in a massive car accident. She was travelling with her friend Vikram Chatterjee who is also badly injured. The accident took place in south Kolkata. The SUV hit the divider and mounted the pavement on Rashbehari Avenue, Kolkata. Police said that this happened while they were trying to avoid an approaching care.They were brought out of the car by local people and were admitted to a nearby hospital. Doctors pronounced that Sonika was dead on spot while Vikram had head injuries. A friend of Vikram said that he was stable but was in ICU.

Everyone is saddened by the news and Bengali film actors including Dev also went to the hospital. Many of her friends have expressed their condolences on social media.
Sidharth Bhardwaj, winner of MTV Splitsvilla season 2 tweeted, “Life is so unpredictable…I am deeply saddened by the news of my friend and somebody I worked with @sonikachauhan89 passing away… RIP.”
