Bollywood is not at all on the cards for Miss World 2017 Manushi Chillar, who has been in the mission to spread awareness about women’s menstrual hygiene. The Indian beauty spoke about her campaign at a press conference.
Speaking about her campaign, Manushi Chillar said, “When I started this project- Menstrual hygiene in India, I realized that there is less awareness as far as menstrual hygiene and availability of sanitary napkins is concerned. Then I also realised that we need to make people aware of it.”
Manushi Chillar being a medical student thought of the idea after spending time at Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department of a hospital and saw a huge number of women suffering just because of lack of hygiene products during menstruation.
This has encouraged her to choose menstrual awareness and hygiene on her project “Beauty with a Purpose.”
“This is not only about her physical beauty, but how you can utilize the beauty to do something good.” With reference to Miss World Crown and entering into the Bollywood industry, she said that her focus is not on Bollywood at the moment.
She uttered “I am really happy that we will be spreading awareness about menstrual hygiene and I’ll be joined by other Miss World sisters. That is what I am excited about. Bollywood is something which is not on my mind right now,”
Nonetheless, she shared her thoughts on Bollywood, “All the actors are very beautiful and talented, but I would like to work with Aamir Khan. I think he has really challenging roles to give and his movies give a message and connect with society. My personal favorite actress is Priyanka Chopra.”
Manushi Chillar hailing from Haryana said she is proud to have her roots here and also added
“I am very grateful to the Government of Haryana for all the privileges they are offering to me, and one of them is that of a position that I can take at a government office. I would really like to contribute to the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ Aandolan.”
She has been crowned as the Miss Worl 2017 by the winner of Miss World 2016 Puerto Rico’s Stephanie Del Valle at a gala event held Sanya City Arena in China on November 18. Asides Chillar, the first runner up was Stephanie Hill from England and Andrea Meza, the second runner up from Mexico.
