Bollywood actors depict different types of roles in films. but there are some roles that touch the audience heart and thus become unforgettable. The best example being the mentally challenged roles played by our superstars that have left us in tears and are truly unforgettable. Lets have a look at some of the mentally challenged roles of Bollywood played by our superstars. Darsheel Safary Darsheel is the youngest actor in this list but he has gained most popularity with his role in Taare Zameen Par. In this movie he was seen playing character of a 8 year old dyslexic child, who is good at arts but poor at academics. His performance as a struggling dyslexic child in the film was praised by film critics and he won several awards for his performance. Amir Khan Aamir Khan was seen portraying the character of Sanjay Singhania, a man reported to have anterograde amnesia. Anterograde amnesia is a loss of the ability to create new memories after the event that caused the amnesia, leading to a partial or complete inability to recall the recent past, while long-term memories from before the event remain intact. Aamir Khan’s look and acting skills gave justice to the role and the movie was a hit at the box-office. Kalki Koechlin In Margarita With A Straw, Kalki Koechlin plays a girl suffering from cerebral palsy. It is a group of permanent movement disorder that appears in childhood. The movie talks about her struggles with the normal activities in her life. Kalki Koechlin’s performance in the movie was speechless and highly appreciated by the critics. Hrithik Roshan Hrithik Roshan played a character of a mentally handicapped boy in his father’s directorial ‘Koi Mil Gaya’ . His mental disability leads him to a man of limited intellect and childish personality with an emotional heart. Hrithik’s acting in this movie bought tears to many and still does. Hrithik Roshan was awarded as the Best Actor at the Filmfare and Rakesh Roshan won the award for Best Movie. Shah Rukh Khan Shah Rukh Khan is the best romantic actor we have in Bollywood , but when he decides to do something new he surely manages to impress all of his fan following. His role in My Name Is Khan is one of the roles that has touched hearts of many. In this movie he is diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome. Asperger Syndrome is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction and nonverbal communication. Shah Rukh Khan won the Filmfare award for the best actor for this movie. Priyanka Chopra In ‘Barfi!’ Priyanka Chopra played a girl who is diagnosed with austism syndrome and a wealthy heiress of her grandfather’s fortune. She is kidnapped by his childhood friend Barfi (Ranbir Kapoor) who is born deaf. Ranbir and Priyanka’s performance in this movie won many hearts. Priyanka Chopra won the Best Actress award at Zee Cine Awards. Salman Khan Tere Naam is a 2003 Bollywood musical romantic drama film. In the first part of the film Salman Khan is seen playing a rough and macho college rowdy who falls in love with a simple girl. Later on he is attacked by goons, who hit him hard on his skull damaging his brain. With no memory of the past and having developed an unusual behavior, he is admitted in an ashram where he is treated by some famous swami. A new side of Salman’s acting was seen in this movie. Amitabh Bachchan In Black, Amitabh Bachchan plays a role of a teacher who later on suffers with Alzheimer. Alzheimer is a broad category of brain diseases that cause a long term and often gradual decrease in the ability to think and remember. His acting skills were highly appreciated. He even won an award for Best Actor at the 53rd National Film Awards.
