Manav Kaul is an actor, director in Bollywood and also a play writer. Manav may not too well known in Bollywood but he surely as a steady career progress as an actor and director. Manav , with his simplicity and panache has played many memorable characters in the recent Bollywood films. These include Kai Po Che! City Lights, Wazir, Maroon and Jai Gangaajal.
As an actor Manav, his first film was fantasy fiction Jajantaram Mamantaram in 2003. This was a children’s film based on the classic book Gulliver’s Travels.
Hailing from Hoshangabad in Madhya Pradesh, Manav’s keen interest in art and theatre lead him to start his own theatre group Aranya in 2004. This gave him a platform to indulge in drama writing, acting and direction. His major break through in Hindi films came with the role of a politician in the film Kai Po Che! As his passion was in directing, he went ahead to direct the film Hansa which released in 2012. He was also the script writer of the same.
Manav Kaul worked in Shakar Ke Paanch Daane ,a Hindi monologue. His work was noticed by critics as a superior one with contemporary style of storytelling. His other acclaimed plays include Ihaam, Park, Shakkar ke Paanch Daane and Peele Scooter Wala Admi. The last one bagged him META award for best script writing.
Manav has a typical north Indian diction which adds the flavor of naturalness to all his roles. He is presently working in the film Jolly LLB 2 starring Akshay Kumar in the lead role. The film is a comic thriller based on the Indian judiciary system.
