Malaika, 41, who is known for her dance numbers including “Chaiyya Chaiyya”, “Munni Badnaam Hui” and “Fashion Khatam Mujhpe”, has replaced show’s regular judge Karan Johar to join Shahid Kapoor, Ganesh Hegde, Lauren Gottlieb.

“I worship dance and hold it in high regard. I have sampled some awesome performances on this season of ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’ and not to mention, some great entertainment by Karan and Shahid. The contestants are truly terrific. Hope to have a gala time on the show from here on,” Malaika said in a statement.

Malaika got a surprise phone call from KJo and was reportedly stunned with the warm welcome she received from her fellow judges and the contestants on the show.
“What she didn’t expect was a big surprise on her very first day. Shahid called Malaika on the stage for Jhalak Connect – where she was connected to a fan Shambhu. When the caller started praising her too much, then she realised there is something wrong and later it was clarified that the caller was Karan Johar,” the source added.
The episode featuring Malaika will be aired on Saturday on Colors
