Maggi Noodles Fails Lab Test, Will It Be Banned Once Again?
Maggi is the best product to eat when you are too hungry to waste any time. Maggi is one of the most popular noodles in India. However, the popular noodle brand was facing lots of problems back in 2015, as it failed to pass the health tests back then. According to various reports, the noodle has more than the threshold amount of MSG (Monosodium glutamate). Maggie was banned in India for a very long time, but it was re-launched after it passed the test.
However, it looks like problems for the famous brand is not looking die down, as it has once again landed itself in trouble. This time also, the brand has failed a lab test. According to reports, the lab report showed that Maggie noodles have more ash content than the permissible limit.
The district administration of Shahjahanpur, Utter Pradesh, has imposed a fine of Rs. 45 Lakh on Nestle India, Rs. 11 Lakh on two sellers and Rs. 15 Lakh on three distributors.
According to the reports of leading news portal News18, the authority collected the sample in November last year and sent them for the lab test. The shocking lab reports have landed the company in trouble once again.
When asked about the same, Nestle India has said that they’ll file an appeal against the order, after they receive it. Talking about the same, the spokesperson of Nestle India said:
“While we have not received the orders passed by the adjudication officer, we have been informed that the samples are of year 2015 and the issue pertains to ‘ash content’ in Noodles.”
The spokesperson also said that Maggi is safe for consumption. He said:
“The standards have since been introduced and the product complies with these standards. We regret the confusion it may cause to consumers,” he said, adding that “We strongly reiterate that Maggi Noodles are 100 per cent safe for consumption.”
He further added:
“This appears to be a case of application of incorrect standards, and we will file an appeal urgently once we receive the order.”
