Lawrence Bishnoi Gang Claims Responsibility for Blasts Near Badshah’s Chandigarh Bar

Two low-intensity explosions rocked the area near rapper Badshah’s nightclub in Chandigarh’s Sector 26 early on November 26, causing minimal damage. The blasts, which occurred between 2:30 am and 2:45 am, targeted the De’orra restaurant and Seville bar and lounge, both owned by Badshah. Authorities confirmed that the explosions shattered window panes and caused slight structural damage to nearby buildings.

Details of the Explosions

The blasts were reportedly triggered by a homemade explosive device thrown by two individuals riding a motorcycle. Although the explosions caused some property damage, no casualties were reported. A nearby club also suffered minor damage. The police quickly arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation, with a bomb detection squad and forensic experts collecting evidence.

Gang’s Claim of Responsibility

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang, through gang members Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara, claimed responsibility for the explosions in a social media post. The post revealed that the gang had previously contacted the owners of the targeted venues, demanding extortion money. When the owners failed to respond, the gang decided to carry out the attack.

The authenticity of the gang’s claim has not been verified, but the police are actively investigating the incident. The explosion is believed to have been a form of intimidation, with the device possibly being a homemade bomb intended for extortion.

Security Concerns and Ongoing Investigation

This attack has raised concerns about security, especially with Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to visit Chandigarh on December 3. Authorities are taking the situation seriously and are working to track down the perpetrators. The investigation into the explosion continues, with the police analyzing the type of explosive used and the possible motives behind the attack.

Context and Background

Goldy Brar, a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, has a criminal history, including being implicated in the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in 2022. Brar was later designated a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act by the Indian government.

The incident highlights the growing threat posed by criminal gangs and their extortion activities, raising alarms over public safety and security in the region.
