Exclusive: Has KriArj backed out of Abhinav Bindra’s Biopic?
Producer Prernaa Arora of KriArj Entertainment who was backing a biopic on Olympic gold medalist shooter Abhinav Bindra, has apparently back out of the project. Earlier, Junglee Pictures had decided to not be a part of the biopic starring Anil Kapoor and his son Harshvardhan, who will be portraying the role of the Olympic-winning shooter. Therefore, Anil came onboard as a co-producer with KriArj, but now according to Peeping Moon.com source, Prernaa too has quit. The film would have Anil playing Abhinav’s father AS Bindra, a Chandigarh-based millionaire industrialist who owns a huge agro-food business in Punjab. His father has been a huge support behind his rise to World Championship.
It was for the first time Prernaa was working on a sports biopic, however as per source, when the producer discussed the film in her close circle they advised her not to risk making a film with Harsh. The actor made his Bollywood debut last year with Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra’s Mirziyaa which failed at the box-office. If sources are to be believed, many people haven’t forgotten yet, which is making it difficult for Harsh to back any projects. While the announcement of this biopic did get some people excited, but with producers backing out from the project one wonders the fate of this film.
The biopic was scheduled to go on floors at the start of 2018; this has now been postponed to mid-2018. Apparently, the reason for this is further changes have been made to the script, but a source close to the project say since KriArj is no more part of the film, Anil and team are having difficulty finding a producer to back this project. While sources say that Anil has approached some of his close producer friends for help, but nothing yet has been confirmed.
Prernaa, made her debut in Bollywood as a producer with Akshay Kumar- starrer Rustom. She has five films lined-up, including Anil Kapoor Aishwariya Rai Bachchan’s Fanney Khan, John Abraham’s Parmanu, Anushka Sharma’s Pari, Akshay Kumar-starrer Padman and Sara Ali Khan’s debut film Kedarnath, which also features Sushant Singh Rajput. While Harsh has Vikramaditya Motwane’s Bhavesh Joshi, a film based around the life of a vigilante is complete, but the release date is still unconfirmed.
