Katy Perry supports Ellen DeGeneres amidst ‘Toxic Workplace’ scandal

‘The Roar’ singer, who has been a regular guest on the sets of the talk show ‘The Ellen Show’, has extended her full support to her industry friend, Ellen DeGeneres. The musician took to her Twitter handle to send kisses and hugs to Ellen, who has been amid controversy for allegedly giving ‘toxic’ environment to the employees on the sets of her famous talk show.

Ellen DeGeneres, who is known for her ‘continual fight for equality’ is currently facing an investigation ever since former employees accused her of racism, bullying, sexual harassment and fostering a ‘toxic environment’ behind the scenes of her famous talk show. The 62-year-old comedian had even released a statement apologising and took full responsibility for the allegations.

The emotional apology note that Ellen sent to her staff, read, “Hey everybody – it’s Ellen. On day one of our show, I told everyone in our first meeting that The Ellen DeGeneres Show would be a place of happiness – no one would ever raise their voice, and everyone would be treated with respect. Obviously, something changed, and I am disappointed to learn that this has not been the case. And for that, I am sorry. Anyone who knows me knows it’s the opposite of what I believe and what I hoped for our show. I could not have the success I’ve had without all of your contributions. My name is on the show and everything we do and I take responsibility for that,” as reported by media.

But it seems like this outrage against Ellen is not going to end any soon but Katy’s support indeed has given her some positivity in these times of negativity.

The 35-year-old pregnant singer took to twitter to stand by her friend in the tough times, “I know I can’t speak for anyone else’s experience besides my own but I want to acknowledge that I have only ever had positive takeaways from my time with Ellen & on the @theellenshow. I think we all have witnessed the light & continual fight for equality that she has brought.” Her next tweet read, “to the world through her platform for decades. Sending you love & a hug, friend @TheEllenShow.”

Earlier in the week, Ellen’s wife Portia de Rossi had also come in open to thank her fans for ‘standing’ with the TV star and added ‘#bekindtooneanother,’ this is how Ellen closes every episode of her talk show.
