Karan Johar stopped the early release of Simmba for friend Shah Rukh Khan
Rohit Shetty’s movie Simmba, starring Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan in the titular role, finally hit the screens on Friday. The movie that released prior to Simmba was Shah Rukh Khan starrer Zero. But Zero failed miserably at the box office and that lead to Reliance Entertainment and Rohit Shetty planning to release Simmba a day early than its scheduled release on 28th December. However, Karan Johar worked as a saviour for Shah Rukh Khan and he stopped the early release of Simmba.

A report states that when Karan Johar got to know about Reliance Entertainment and Rohit Shetty’s plan to prepone Simmba, he requested them not to go ahead with it. A source in the report has been quoted as saying, “Karan did not want Simmba to release on December 27 since that would have affected the seventh day business of his friend Shah Rukh Khan‘s film Zero. Though the SRK, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma starrer was not doing well at the box office, the early release of Simmbawould definitely have hurt his personal relationship with Shah Rukh Khan. It was to avoid hurting his friend that Karan Johar decided not to prepone the release of Simmba.”
